Interested in Starting a Team? Follow these steps:

1. To officially have a team, you must register with FIRST® LEGO® League at the national level. Registration usually opens in May. Click here for this season's registration information.

2. Next purchase your LEGO® materials. Some basic equipment you will need include:

3. FIRST® will release each season's theme and challenge details by early August each year. Once released, challenge sets will be shipped and the season is officially underway!

4. Once registered nationally, you will receive your team number. Next, you must register with us. The Georgia Regional Event Registration will open in early August. If you do not complete this registration, your team will not be able to participate in ANY competitions! You must complete registration by the end of October for placement at the regional level. During registration, you will be able to select up to 6 regionals to be placed in. We do our best to place everyone at their first choice, but it is not guaranteed so please select all 6 choices wisely! Registration is not complete until payment is received.

5.  All Georgia regional tournaments will occur throughout the 2-3 weekends between Thanksgiving and winter breaks; often the first 3 weekends in December. All regional competitions are single-day events.

  • Regional tournaments are made up of up to 12 teams each. Many host sites have 2-3 (24-36 teams) tournaments taking place simultaneously. Keep in mind that you are only in competition with the other teams in your sub-tournament.

6. Each regional tournament will receive a set number of teams that can advance to the super-regional level. Winning a trophy at the regional level does not guarantee that you will move on. Teams will be informed via email and this website that they have advanced to the Super-Regional Tournament.

  • Advancement is based on the team's placement in the Champion's Award rankings and that their robot meets competition requirements.
  • Generally, teams ranked in the top 30% of their 12-team sub-tournament move on.

7. Teams that competed in the Super-Regional Tournament will be informed via email and this website that they have advanced to the State Championships.

  • Advancement is based on the team's placement in the Champion's Award rankings and that they have met the robot game hurdle.
  • Generally, teams ranked in the top 30% of their 12-team sub-tournament move on.
